The 22nd Tang Soo Do Youth Challenge

Competition for students ages 3-17yo

Dear Student & Parents,

          I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. I would like to thank you for your past support & look forward to seeing you at the 22nd  Tang Soo Do Youth (17 & Under) Challenge on February 26, 2022.  The SNOW date is Sunday February 27.

This year's event will be held at our World Tang Soo Do Association Region 9 HQ school Valentin Karate, 75 S Colony Street in Meriden CT.  This is an Invitational Tang Soo Do Event.  Tang Soo Do Grand Masters, Masters, Instructors and Students throughout New England will be participating.  It will be a great opportunity to meet, share and grow in healthy competition! Our goal as always is to run the finest Invitational Tournament in New England.   We rely on your support and participation to achieve our goal and I would like to thank you in advance for your commitment.

            As always we offer Tiny Tiger and Little Dragons competitor’s two options. “Traditional” sparring with gear, forms & breaking 1^st-3^rd place with participation medals for those that do not place & “Instructional” Belt sparring, forms & breaking where all receive the same trophy. 

          Each "SPARRING" division will award TROPHIES for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers.  1st-3rd place MEDALS will be provided for Hyung (traditional forms) &  Breaking.  Children 10 years old & under will receive a participation medal.  Enclosed is a list of all Divisions for this Championship and a brief Rules explanation.  Please review your applications before they are submitted to ensure all information is correct.  

There will be NO Weapons competition at this event.

I encourage you to Early Register online to keep your cost at a minimum ($60 for all three events, now until February 18) EXTENDED!

Standard online Registration will be from February 18 to February 24 ($70 for all 3 events).

Late registration will begin at 8:30 am on Saturday February 26 and will continue throughout the day. ALL ages Black Belt Competitions will start at 9 AM. As such we ask that all Masters and Black Belts arrive on time so there are enough judges for the black belt competition. Please look at the schedule below.

         8:00 a.m.     Registration at the door Begins & Continues throughout the day

         8:45 a.m.     Line Up & Judges Meeting

         9:00 a.m.     All Dan  (All Black Belts) Competition All Ages (7 -17yrs)

         10:00 a.m.   All Teens, All Ranks (13-17, White - Blue belts)

         11:00 a.m.   All 11 & 12 Year olds

         Noon           All 9 & 10 Year olds

         1:00 p.m.    All 7 & 8 Year olds

         2:00 p.m.    All 6 & Under "Traditional" and Tigers & Dragons "Instructional" 

         3:00 p.m.    Competition Ends

PLEASE NOTE: Competitors should arrive 20 minutes prior to your start time. 

 Encourage your students to early register to keep the cost for them at a minimum.  

EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION online or postmarked by February 18, 2022 to compete in all events at the tournament (breaking, forms and sparring) the fee is $60. EXTENDED!!

REGISTRATION: February 18-24: The fee is $70 EXTENDED

Online registration closes at 11:59 pm on February 24. 

Late registration at the door on February 26, the day of the event, for the tournament will be  $60 for one division, $70 for two divisions or $80 for all three divisions

Spectator Fees are $10 
Proceeds will be donated to St. Judes Children's Hospital and Smilow kids cancer unit - (https://www.ynhh.org/smilow)
